Developments in NSW contaminated land legislation

Two new pieces of legislation bring some major changes in relation to the management of contaminated land and potential hazards in New South Wales.

These include a new Bill covering changes to the Contaminated Land Management Act 1997 (NSW) which aims to provide greater efficiency, reduce compliance costs, improve transparency and enhance the powers of the NSW Environmental Protection Authority. The second change relates to the commencement of the new Protection of the Environment Operation (Underground Petroleum Storage Systems) Regulation 2008.
